Case Summary:

Not long ago, North America Immigration Law Group helped a postdoctoral research fellow from Iran file an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition. Our client could have filed his case under the EB-2 category, which has a lower standard of law, but he wanted to take advantage of Premium Processing (an option only available for EB-1 categories). This resulted in a speedy adjudication, and he received his approval notice only 19 days after we filed his case.

“[Client’s] research has made great strides in developing inexpensive yet highly effective processes for separating contaminants from necessary resources. While doing so, he has also advanced the chemical engineering community’s understanding of membrane technology, which has immeasurable practical applications. It is critical that his work be allowed to continue, for the well-being of the academic community as well as the advancement of global access to water and nutrients.”

This statement was made by a chemical engineering expert who contributed a testimonial in support of our client’s EB-1A petition. His letter, and several others, made up an important part of our carefully prepared petition packet, which also included data on our client’s 393 independent citations, 37 instances of peer review service, and 24 publications. We demonstrated the usefulness of our client’s investigations to the United States and convinced the USCIS that halting his work in the country would be detrimental to not only the scientific community, but the entire nation.

Our client, who has a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, researches membrane synthesis and technologies used for molecular separations such as pervaporation, water treatment, and desalination. His findings produce the chemicals that are needed to create potable water via improvements to water quality and purity, treatment of wastewater, and desalination of seawater. We congratulate our client on his EB-1A petition approval and wish him the very best in his field of chemical engineering.
