Case Summary:

Not long ago, North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) was hired by a prominent assistant professor from China. He wanted to become an American permanent resident and needed our help getting his I-140 petition approved. After carefully evaluating his credentials, we confirmed that he would be a good candidate for EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability).

In order to get our client’s EB-1A petition approved, we needed to convince the USCIS that his work on the optimization and control of power system operations (particularly the incorporation of green energy technology into the infrastructure of current power grids) is of great value to the United States. We did this by demonstrating that he met three out of the 10 EB-1A requirements set by the USCIS. The requirements were:

  1. Judging the work of others: When we filed the case, our client had already conducted 90 reviews for a variety of scientific publications. We incorporated thank you letters from these journals as evidence of his work.
  2. Impressive citation count: Using Google Scholar and other similar references, we verified that our client’s work had collected 438 citations.
  3. Extensive publication record: The many years that our client spent working in the field of electrical engineering resulted in the publication of 20 articles that detailed his findings.

To further strengthen our case, we documented other aspects of our client’s illustrious portfolio. For instance, we used his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences as evidence that he is armed with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct outstanding research in his field. We also encouraged other expert electrical engineers to lend their support by contributing recommendation letters. These letters served as additional evidence that our client’s work is of great value to the United States, particularly in relation to the country’s environmentally friendly energy technology and the optimization of distributed energy sources. One of our client’s recommenders had this to say: “In conclusion, based on [Client’s] valuable contributions to power systems that have made it possible to incorporate renewable energy sources effectively into the existing infrastructure, [Client] has become a recognized leader in power systems research. As few others have skills or experience equivalent to [Client], he is an irreplaceable member of the American scientific community.”

We are pleased that our meticulous efforts paid off in the best way possible: an EB-1A petition approval. Thanks to Premium Processing, the USCIS only spent four days adjudicating our client’s petition before granting their approval. We congratulate our client for successfully getting closer to his green card, and we wish him well with his continued research efforts.
