Case Summary:

After patiently waiting almost 2 years, a postdoctoral research associate from Jordan finally received notification of his EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition approval. Overall, North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) raised several service requests and an Ombudsman inquiry on his behalf, and despite the long wait, we are very pleased that our client is now significantly closer to a green card.

Preparing an EB-2 NIW petition:

We were tasked with proving that our client’s presence in the U.S. is crucial to the country’s national interest. We started off by asking our client to contact other experts working in the field of bioengineering to ask for recommendation letters. We needed these experts to verify that our client is a highly skilled researcher whose talents cannot be surpassed and whose work is nationally imperative. Six experts agreed to lend their support, one of whom noted the following: “As previously stated, bioengineering research is the future in so many fields and areas of science, and [Client] is a pioneer in this important area. If he is allowed to continue his important work here in the United States, I have no doubt he will continue to advance our understanding of these important subjects. His skills in this particular specialty are outstanding and any country would be lucky to claim his residency. He is an outstanding scientist, and will continue to make a great difference to our nation and to our world.”

Besides recommendation letters, our client’s EB-2 NIW petition dossier was comprised of data on his Ph.D. in Biological Systems Engineering, his 7 publications, the 50 citations gathered from his work, and the 2 times he conducted peer reviews. We also noted his development of a more reliable method for evaluating grape maturity, the elucidation of the structure-property relationships in fabricated protein bioplastics, innovative development of Raman spectroscopy techniques for metabolic engineering applications, and the construction of a near real-time ex-vivo organ health monitoring system. After carefully reviewing our client’s research, we concluded that his efforts address a diversity of public health, environmental, and economic issues in the United States.

Becoming an American permanent resident:

We congratulate our client for overcoming such a massive hurdle in the green card journey. Now, the only thing standing in his way is the I-485 application. This is the last step in the green card process and once the USCIS approves his application, he will receive his green card.
