Case Summary:

The field of energy engineering has seen much progress since our client—a postdoctoral fellow from China—chose to dedicate his career to it. His investigations in the field have led to various achievements, all of which benefit other researchers both in the US and abroad. Furthermore, there is no denying that our client’s research results address some of the United States’ most pressing issues in understanding how to incorporate renewable energy sources into power grids while also raising their efficiency and improving their reliability.

When our client approached us to file an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition on his behalf, we carefully reviewed his qualifications to be sure that he met at least 3 out of the ten EB-1A requirements set by the USCIS. After confirming that he did, we got to work collecting data on his work in the field of energy engineering. Amongst other things, our client’s EB-1A petition contained information on his publication count: 6 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 1 first-authored book chapter, and 7 peer-reviewed conference papers. His petition was also comprised of data on the nearly 200 times his work was cited by other researchers as well as the 70 times he was invited to judge the work of his peers.

To further strengthen our client’s EB-1A presentation, we also included six recommendation letters contributed by influential professors working in the field. One of these professors described the significance of our client’s work in his letter by stating: “His research is providing invaluable insight that will continue to guide the design and development of the nation’s next generation energy infrastructure, ensuring that its future energy needs are met efficiently and reliably.” Another professor noted that “…his unique set of skills are so well matched to these investigations that he is irreplaceable by the average member of his field.”

We are glad that the USCIS was persuaded to approve our client’s EB-1A petition and that he is now one step closer to green card success. We thank him for retaining our services to help him file an I-485 application, and we wish him well as he continues to create novel control algorithms for next-generation power grids here in the United States.
