Case Summary:

A Chinese postdoctoral research associate with vast expertise in the field of applied mathematics sought assistance from our firm –– North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) –– to help him navigate the difficult process of obtaining EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval. After assessing the merits of our client’s credentials, we agreed to represent him.

Having conducted impactful research such as developing algorithms and software packages for fast and stable computation of dense and sparse matrices, our client had positioned himself as a leading expert in the field. We portrayed the various ways in which his research aids computational analyses and facilitates the remedying of image reconstruction problems within the United States. Our client’s research methodologies are effective in a multitude of areas such as computer science, aerospace engineering, clinical medicine, solid state physics, and energy computation in the US.

In a bid to prepare an effective EB1A dossier for our client, we also noted the 11 peer-reviewed scientific articles to his name which had accrued 120 citations, and the 16 peer reviews he had efficiently conducted for 5 top-tier journals. Moreover, we emphasized his strong technical and educational background which qualified him to conduct such impressive research in the field.

We also insisted that our client collect strong letters of recommendation from other experts— he obtained 6 in total. This an excerpt from one of these letters: “I want to reiterate that it is of the upmost importance that [Client] be allowed to continue his research in the United States. He is an irreplaceable member of the applied mathematics field and his past record of success essentially guarantees that he will continue to produce work that is of value to the field of applied mathematics and the U.S. as a whole.” These letters strongly advocated the benefits of retaining our client in the United States.

Nearly 5 months after filing the EB1A petition, our client decided to upgrade his case to Premium Processing (PP). PP is a paid option offered by the USCIS whereby select petitioners willing to pay an additional $1,225 will have action taken on their cases within 15 days instead of 4-9 months. Exactly 14 days after the upgrade, our client received notification of EB1A approval. We are pleased to have been of assistance and we pledge our continued support as we file I-485 applications for him and his wife. In the meantime, we wish him success on the road ahead and thank him for working with us.
