On March 27th, 2017, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Theoretical Chemistry (Approval Notice).

General Field: Theoretical Chemistry

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Country of Origin: Turkey

Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New Jersey

Approval Notice Date: March 27th, 2017

Processing Time: 1 year, 12 days

Case Summary:

A Turkish postdoctoral research associate based in New Jersey contacted our firm –– North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) –– for help with filing an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. He possesses a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry and has many years of research experience in the field. We analyzed his credentials before agreeing to represent him as his immigration consultants. A brief account of our client’s credentials included:

– A notable citation and publication record consisting of 280 citations from 5 peer-reviewed scientific articles (3 first authored).

– Impressive contributions made by our client, focused specifically on computational modeling of materials important for photochemical and catalytic applications such as metal oxide surfaces. His work has led to novel discoveries related to the structure and behaviors of molecules and materials through theoretical and experimental research methods. These important discoveries can be optimized into potential medical, electronic, defense, and energy applications in the United States.

The aforementioned achievements from our client’s research career were efficiently incorporated into the NIW dossier. In order to strengthen his case further, we advised him to collect recommendation letters from other theoretical chemistry experts. Of the 4 recommendation letters he collected, the statements of a chemistry professor read: “Through the careful planning and implementation of his work, [Client] has confirmed his place among the best theoretical chemists currently working.” Undoubtedly, these letters affirmed our client’s candidature for receiving the national interest waiver.

After a meticulous assembly of a well-structured NIW petition, we filed it on behalf of our client. However, there was no response from the USCIS after 9 months, which led us to raise a service request. Not long after, we received notification that our client’s NIW petition had been transferred to Texas Service Center (TSC). However, when there was further delay, we advised our client to contact his local congressperson. He did so and soon after, our client received notification of NIW petition approval. In all, it took a year and 12 days for our client’s NIW to be approved.

We congratulate our client for receiving the national interest waiver, and have given him our D.I.Y Packet to assist him with filing I-485 applications for himself and his wife. We wish him well as he embarks on the final leg of the green card journey.
