Success Stories: EB-1A Petition Approved 11 Days after Filing for Postdoctoral Fellow from China in the Field of Epidemiology

Client’s Testimonial:

“I really appreciate your help and will share my wonderful experiences…”

On April 28th, 2017, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Epidemiology (Approval Notice).

General Field: Epidemiology

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Fellow

Country of Origin: China

Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Texas

Approval Notice Date: April 28th, 2017

Processing Time: 11 Days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

Just 11 days after North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) filed an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition on behalf of a postdoctoral fellow from China, TSC sent him notification of case approval. The reason they adjudicated his case so quickly is because he paid them $1,225 extra to have his case filed under Premium Processing (PP). Cases filed under PP will have action taken on them within 15 days instead of 4-9 months.

With a doctorate in epidemiology and extensive experience conducting research in the same field, our client seemed like he warranted case approval. Even so, we carefully went through his credentials to determine that he met at least 3 out of the 10 EB-1A requirements established by the USCIS. After confirming that he did, we set forth building a solid case for him.

Amongst other things, we noted the 50 times our client assessed the work of his peers. We also detailed his 22 published articles that had gathered 175 citations at the time of filing. Furthermore, we reviewed his research summary to better understand his investigations on phenotypic biomarkers to predict the risk of various cancers, the epidemiological study of genetic factors as they relate to gastric cancer and lung cancer, the study of nutritional factors related to cancer risk, and the study of quality of life for kidney stone formers. Based on the information we gathered, we were able to convince the USCIS that our client’s findings improve gastrointestinal cancer prevention and treatment in the US as well as address the nation’s most pressing issues in understanding gastrointestinal cancers and other diseases from an epidemiological perspective.

In a bid to further fortify our client’s EB1A case, we included five recommendation letters which he had gathered from his peers. These letters contained details on his research as well as statements that supported the approval of his petition. As an example, this is what one our client’s recommenders had to say about his work: “These methods have facilitated early cancer detection and prevention, and [Client’s] research is therefore instrumental in protecting the health of Americans on a national level.”

We would like to thank our client for selecting us to represent his EB1A and for retaining our I-485 services. We recently filed I-485 applications for our client and his spouse to adjust their status for permanent residence, and we join them as they await good news.
