Success Stories: University-Petitioned EB-1B Approved for Iranian Assistant Professor in the Field of Thermal-Fluids Science

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for your help.”

On March 7th, 2017, we received another EB-1B (Outstanding Professors and Researchers) approval for an Assistant Professor in the Field of Thermal-Fluids Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Assistant Professor

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Thermal-Fluids Science

Country of Origin: Iran

Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Pennsylvania

Approval Notice Date: March 7th, 2017

Processing Time: 14 Days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

A prominent assistant professor from Iran clinched EB-1B (Outstanding Professors and Researchers) petition approval just 14 days after North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) filed it on her behalf. The reason for such rapid adjudication is thanks to Premium Processing, a service offered by the USCIS that allows petitioners to have action taken on their cases within 15 days.

Before we agreed to take on our client’s EB1B case, we had to be sure that her employer—an American university—was willing to serve as the petitioner. This is because EB1B is an employer-petitioned I-140 category. Once our client confirmed that she had her employer’s full support, we started building a case that demonstrated at least two of the following:

  1. Her outstanding achievements in the field of thermal-fluids science and that she had obtained international recognition.
  2. Her experience teaching or researching in the field for at least 3 years.
  3. Her presence in the US pursuing tenure or tenure track teaching or comparable research position at a university or other institution of higher education.

In preparing our client’s case, we noted the 117 citations gathered from her dozen publications and the 22 times she assessed the work of her peers. This is what one of her peers said about her work: “This outstanding track record is further evidence of [Client’s] significant service to her chosen field and the scientific community as a whole.” This quote was taken from a recommendation letter signed in support of our client’s EB1B petition (there were 6 in total, all contributed by other experts in the field).

We also detailed our client’s work on developing thermal management systems through passive heat transfer techniques, as well as improving efficiency of latent heat thermal energy storage systems. Overall, we successfully convinced the USCIS that our client met the criteria for EB1B. We congratulate her for securing petition approval, and thank her for retaining our I-485 services.
