Case Summary:

Emerging technologies like graphics processing units (GPUs) in the United States have benefitted vastly from the studies conducted by our client –– an assistant professor from China who was recently granted EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition approval. This successful I-140 journey commenced with the assessment of our client’s academic credentials by the team at North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG). Once we were convinced that we could build a solid EB1A case for him, we counter-signed the retainer agreement and started working on his petition packet.

Contents of the EB1A petition:

  1. Our client’s research portfolio encompassed 19 peer-reviewed scientific articles that had amassed a total of 203 citations at the time of filing. His work was cited by dependent and independent researchers from around the globe, which proved his position as a respected computer scientist.
  2. We also detailed the peer review work that our client had performed for various high impact journals: at least 30 manuscripts reviewed at the time of filing.
  3. Further, we proved to the adjudicating authorities that our client’s work is of national importance. His research addresses some of our nation’s most pressing issues in understanding the criteria needed to run computer systems optimally, and it enhances the performance of GPUs-a breakthrough technology which is of immense importance to the country.

To bolster his EB1A petition, our client managed to collect several letters of recommendation from other experts in the field. These letters attested to the significance of his work and as an example, this is what an eminent professor wrote in support of our client’s petition: “Undoubtedly, he is an asset to computer science research in the United States, and allowing him to continue his research would not only be beneficial to him and his institution, but to the country as a whole.”

Since our client decided to file his petition with Premium Processing (PP) –a paid service provided by the USCIS which ensures action will be taken within 15 days—his case was approved 12 days later. We thank our client for working with us and we wish him the best with the last step of the green card process: filing an I-485 application.
