Case Summary:

In this case the client that we had the opportunity to work with was an Instructor from China in the field of medical physics.  His specialized research had focused on biophotonics, particularly where it concerns optical imaging of breast and skin cancers.  This work had resulted in at least 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 15 proceedings publications, a patent, and nearly 40 presentations at national and international conferences.  At the time that his case was filed, these publications been cited at least 427 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work.  In addition, he had reviewed at least 32 manuscripts fordistinctive, internationally-circulated journals in his field.  The importance of his work to the US was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “[He] has made contributions to the field of dynamic optical coherence elastography, especially in developing optical imaging techniques for the measurement of tissue and cell biomechanics for breast cancer and human skin that are far above and beyond what could be expected by another researcher. It would be next to impossible to find another researcher in this field to match [his] outstanding proven capacity to produce effective developments for optical coherence elastography and its biological and clinical applications.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought remain in the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States.
