Case Summary:

Our client in this case was a polymer chemist from China who had made numerous findings in the areas of the optimization of reversible-deactivation radical polymerization, the development of novel catalysts using zero-valent copper, the development of novel nanoporous materials, and novel techniques for atmospheric carbon capture.  His work had resulted in 39 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 6 presentations at national and international conferences; at the time that his case was filed, his publications had been cited at least 713 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work.  He had also reviewed 24 manuscripts for 7 distinctive, internationally-circulated journals. An independent recommender remarked upon his superior expertise: “In the area of Polymer Science and Engineering, very few researchers can match the credentials, expertise and original output exhibited by [Client] in his already illustrious career.  He has published more than eight papers per year over the past five years, including a 2013 article in … the world’s top-ranked journal in its category of Environmental Sciences.  Even compared to the other elite articles in this journal, [Client’s] paper (which detailed the creation of his CO2 capturing polymers) has been cited more than most since its publication.  Research manuscripts published in journals of industrial engineering, environmental science and materials science have all adopted [Client’s] work on this one project.  Impressively, this is not even one of [Client’s] dozen-most-cited publications.  His work has appeared in … some of the most preeminent journals in [Client’s] research concentrations and he has made his mark in them on numerous occasions.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought to remain in the United States to continue work in the area of Polymer Chemistry, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States. With the proof and documentation that we provided, his case was approved in just thirteen days.
