On December 11th, 2017, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Senior Research Scientist in the Field of Computer Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Computer Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Senior Research Scientist

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New York

Approval Notice Date: December 11th, 2017

Processing Time: 42 Days (Premium Processing Upgrade Requested)

Case Summary:

With a doctorate in computer science and ample experience working in the same field, a senior research scientist from China checked all the boxes when it came to qualifying for EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability). Despite his strong credentials, he needed North America Immigration Law Group’s help to present a clear and concise case to the USCIS.

As part of our legal strategy, we collected as much information as we could on our client’s work in the field of computer science. We reviewed his research on developing and applying algorithms for the purpose of mining knowledge and information from textual content, and concluded that his research addresses some of the United States’ most pressing issues in understanding how to best leverage computer science in the analysis of available data.

To support our case, we urged our client to reach out to other influential computer scientists and ask for recommendation letters. These letters subjectively backed up our argument that our client should be allowed to continue conducting his research in the country. According to one of these recommenders: “It is rare for a researcher to have made such significant contributions to his or her field. That [Client] has done so reflects the singular skillset he developed through years of academic and professional research.” Several examples of significant contributions that our client has made to the field are the 28 peer-reviewed scientific articles in his name, the 136 times his work was cited, and the at least 50 peer reviews he had conducted for various high impact scientific journals.

Overall, the USCIS only spent 42 days adjudicating our client’s EB1A petition before approving it. We congratulate our client on this win, and wish him the best as he files and I-485 application with the help of our DIY Packet.
