Case Summary:

A Chinese design engineer contacted North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) when she decided that she wanted to obtain a green card. She hired us to help her with the first part of the process: filing an I-140 petition. After going through our client’s credentials, we determined that she qualified for EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability). Our legal strategy was to present not just her academic and research achievements, but also the significance of her work to other researchers and the United States as a whole.

The customized EB1A petition packet which we put together contained an array of information related to our client’s work. For instance, we noted the 183 times her 10 publications were cited as well as the 25 times she had assessed the work of her peers at the time of filing. Moreover, the EB1A petition dossier contained details related to her work on creating rapid, portable biomedical diagnostic devices. Based on all the information we had, we were able to demonstrate that our client’s efforts positively impact the creation of other medical devices in the US.

Besides details of our client’s projects, we also presented several recommendation letters to the USCIS. These letters were signed by other influential mechanical engineers, all of whom staunchly supported the approval of our client’s EB1A petition. According to one of them: “[Client] is among the most exceptional mechanical engineers currently engaged in research pertaining to biomedical devices…” Another expert noted that her research “is highly applicable to commercially relevant interests in the field.”

We are pleased that our diligent efforts paid off and that our client’s EB1A petition was approved. We thank her for trusting us to help her come this far in the green card process and we wish her the best as she continues to carry out impactful research in the field of mechanical engineering.
